The great early twentieth century satirist H. L. Mencken once said "The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." Could he have been talking about our Board of Health and Emergency Management Committee?

Why are you always so down on the bopard of health? Theyre just trying to do their job. Don't we all want clean water?

Whoever left that comment hasn't ever had to deal with the board of health. They think we're in Boston, and they always seem to pick the most expensive way for you to do something. I think they must own stock in the septic contractors, 'cause they sure have helped make them rich (at homeowners expense).
