Officer Pilone and the Selectboard

After the June 12 selectboard meeting that resulted in Officer Pilone's ouster, Selectman Turner spoke about it to the Berkshire Eagle.  That was a mistake.   Here's why:

And here's the selectboard's response:

Another day, another lawsuit.  Some people should learn to keep their mouths shut.

This is absolutely the Selectboard's doing. They should have fired him in the first meeting, but chose to allow him to resign to save their own butts after making such a broad statement of confidence in Pilone a few weeks earlier. This is a confused and sorry board.

And while I'm here, am I to understand that Flynn is going to represent Egremont when the Selectboard members of all the towns get together to discuss the outlying schools? Part of that meeting will be to discuss changes to the school agreement. How can he do any of this while still remaining a school board member. It is a total conflict of interest. Turner can't do it because he works for the school. That leaves Brazie, who only rents property in Egremont and doesn't pay any property taxes. So any bump in property taxes doesn't affect her in Egremont. She pays property taxes in Sheffield. Is anyone else paying attention?
